Steve Pointon
Counselling & Support
Welcome, I’m Steve, a BSc Hons Degree holder in Person-Centred Counselling and registered member of the BACP. I offer a safe and confidential space, either in Crewe, Cheshire, or virtually, to explore issues such as Anxiety, Depression, and Loss & Grief, among others. If you’re seeking a therapist who offers personal experience and acceptance, I am here for you.
Life can be full of unexpected hurdles, and I understand that firsthand. From overcoming health struggles like cancer to dealing with work-related difficulties, I have navigated my own trials and now provide the same support and understanding to others. No matter what you’re facing, I’m here to listen and help.

What To Expect
Never spoken to a counsellor before? There’s nothing to worry about
Person-centered counseling, developed by Carl Rogers, is a humanistic therapy that believes in people’s innate capacity for growth and self-understanding. It focuses on creating a non-judgmental and empathetic environment to help clients explore their feelings and thoughts. Therapists provide unconditional positive regard, empathy, and genuineness, allowing clients to lead sessions and find their own solutions for personal growth.
No, face to face sessions take place at my purposely converted counselling venue in Crewe, but i also facilitate online sessions so you can be based anywhere in the country/world.

About Me
It is my experience that drove me to want to support you
Hi, my name is Steve and I hold a BSc Hons Degree in Person-Centred Counselling
Life sometimes throws up some unexpected hurdles and I have overcome my fair share.
After two cancer diagnosis’ and twice overcoming severe treatments, followed by a drawn out employment tribunal, it has not been easy. I couldn’t have done it without the amazing support I received.
I would not be where I am today if it was not for the amazing people who have helped, listened and supported me. I now enjoy doing the same for others in similar situations.
Dealing with these types of life changing situations should not be tackled on your own, however I recognise it can be difficult to talk to loved ones. Please read my story and get in touch if you would like some support or if you want to ask any questions.

Experience
Here is what I’ve been working on
As a member of the family support team, provide counselling for patients with life limiting illness, including end of life, family members and carers along with people suffering from bereavement.
Provide counselling sessions for clients who have suffered a bereavement, often centred on the actual loss of another person, but also other areas of life affected by the loss or around relationships issues.
Working with patients diagnosed with Kidney Cancer, providing support through community engagement and administration. Also work with family members and carers of the patients who often face an equally difficult time.
Providing counselling support for clients with a range of issues, including anxiety, depression and work-related issues. I also help people find community connections and signpost to specialist agencies who can help.
What People Say
I have worked with a lot of amazing people
I lost my mum on top of several other recent bereavements and Steve helped me understand that it was ok to take longer than I thought was normal, to process what had happened. Steve made it possible for me to start that process as I knew he was right there with me.
I can’t thank Steve enough, I’m not sure where I would be right now if it wasn’t for his help and support. Steve listens without interrupting and really helped me understand what was going on for me.
I listened to your lecture during EONS16 and I must say that you truly inspired me!
Steve has such an emotional and inspiring story to tell. I am a grown man and what he has to say and how he says it can’t fail to inspire and motivate you. Thank you for sharing your story Steve, I will never forget it.
